SMS Alerts — Messaging Program & Opt-In
Last updated: June 26, 2026
For carrier / A2P 10DLC reviewers
This public page documents the complete SMS opt-in flow for the CivicPulse Alerts messaging program. The live opt-in form is in Dashboard → Settings (behind account login), so the consent screen and its verbatim disclosure are reproduced below for review without an account. No mobile information is shared with third parties for marketing; consent is opt-in only and never pre-checked.
SMS consent is entirely voluntary. It is never required to create an account, use CivicPulse, or purchase any plan, and it is never a condition of any transaction. Account signup collects only name, email, and password — no phone number is requested or required. Every account works fully with email alerts and no SMS.
Program overview
These are the terms and conditions of the CivicPulse Alerts SMS messaging program. By opting in you agree to them, together with our Privacy Policy.
Program name: CivicPulse Alerts. CivicPulse sends automated SMS notifications about local-government activity — such as zoning changes, permits, ordinances, and council votes — that may affect the street addresses a subscriber chooses to monitor. SMS is an optional channel offered alongside email; subscribers turn it on themselves and verify their own mobile number before any alert is sent.
How to opt in
Opt-in is completed inside the subscriber’s own CivicPulse account. The steps are:
- Create a CivicPulse account at civicpulse.cloud/signup and add at least one address to monitor.
- Open Dashboard → Settings → SMS Notifications.
- Toggle “Enable SMS alerts” on and enter your mobile phone number.
- Check the consent box (unchecked by default; shown below) to agree to receive SMS alerts, then tap “Send code.” The button is disabled until you check the box — checking it is your affirmative opt-in.
- Enter the 6-digit verification code we text to that number to confirm it is yours. SMS alerts begin only after the number is verified.
Consent is requested only at this step, is never pre-selected, and is not a condition of creating an account or purchasing any plan. You can turn SMS off again at any time from the same screen.
Consent disclosure shown at opt-in
Below is a faithful reproduction of the actual SMS opt-in screen from Dashboard → Settings. Consent is captured by a dedicated checkbox that is unchecked by default; the user must actively check it, and the “Send code” button stays disabled until they do. No verification text — and no alerts — are sent without this affirmative action. Consent is never pre-selected.
Optional. Adding and verifying your mobile number is free and is not required to use CivicPulse.
Feature toggle, off by default. Shown here switched on by the user.
Consent checkbox is unchecked by default. “Send code” (shown disabled above) becomes active only after the user checks this box.
Verbatim consent language shown to the user
“By verifying your number you consent to receive automated SMS alerts from CivicPulse about government activity near your addresses. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.”
Message frequency
Recurring. Message frequency varies and depends on how much relevant government activity is detected near the addresses you monitor — some weeks may have no messages, others several. You also control a minimum priority threshold and quiet hours in your settings.
