Privacy Policy

Overview
CivicPulse (“CivicPulse,” “we,” “us”) provides local-government monitoring and alerts. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using CivicPulse you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address when you create an account.
- Addresses you monitor — the physical street addresses and parcels (TMKs) you add so we can match government activity to them.
- Mobile phone number — only if you choose to enable SMS alerts. We use it to send a verification code and, once verified, to deliver alerts.
- Notification preferences — your channel, frequency, priority, and quiet-hours settings.
- Billing information — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
- Usage data — basic technical logs (e.g. pages viewed, errors) used to operate and improve the service.
Mobile information & SMS
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as our SMS provider, is permitted solely to deliver the messages you request. All other use-case categories exclude text-messaging opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Mobile information and phone numbers collected for SMS alerts are used solely to deliver CivicPulse notifications and verification codes. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share mobile information or phone numbers for any other purpose. SMS alerts are sent only to numbers that have been verified and opted in through your account settings. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. You can also disable SMS at any time in your dashboard settings.
How we use your information
- Detect and deliver alerts about government activity relevant to the addresses you monitor.
- Send email and (if enabled) SMS notifications and digests according to your preferences.
- Verify ownership of your phone number before enabling SMS.
- Process subscription payments and manage your account.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the service.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, to operate CivicPulse:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Twilio — SMS delivery and phone verification. Your mobile number is shared with Twilio only to transmit the alerts you opted into; Twilio does not use it for any other purpose.
- Resend — email delivery.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting infrastructure.
- Vercel — application hosting.
These providers process data only on our behalf, under contract, and may not use it for their own purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CivicPulse and its users.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Your choices
- Update your addresses, notification preferences, and phone number in your dashboard settings.
- Opt out of SMS by replying STOP or disabling SMS alerts in settings.
- Unsubscribe from email digests via settings or the unsubscribe link in emails.
- Request access to or deletion of your personal data by emailing us.
Children's privacy
CivicPulse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
